Registered Early Childhood Educators: Building Knowledge Together
Our registered early childhood educators (RECEs) collaborate closely with children, families, and colleagues to co-construct meaningful learning experiences. Utilizing their expertise in child development, learning theories, and various pedagogical approaches, our RECEs design, implement, and assess engaging, child-centered, inquiry and play-based activities that inspire curiosity and foster growth.
A Few Reasons a Tour is a Valuable Step:
Gold Circle's Play-Based Curriculum
At Gold Circle, we embrace a play-based curriculum and follow How Does Learning Happen, as it boosts social, emotional, and academic success. Our approach integrates play with learning, fostering creativity for future generations. Our program nurtures development in key areas: Physical, Social, Emotional, Sensory, Creative Arts, Music, Communication/Language, Literacy, and Cognitive Skills.
Nutrition
Your Child's Nutrition is Important to Us
At Gold Circle Daycare, we know that a nutritious diet is crucial for children's development, health, and learning. We believe in making healthy eating fun and offer a variety of options, including halal and vegetarian meals, to cater to every child's needs.
Our
Story
Get to Know Us
Gold Circle Daycare first opened its doors at Westway Jr. School in 1985, founded by Mrs. Campbell, who envisioned an educational space that combined love, education, and affordable care for Toronto families. As a newcomer to Canada and a former school teacher from Jamaica, Mrs. Campbell understood the critical importance of education and socialization during the early years in a child's development for building skills, reaching developmental milestones, and raising healthy, happy, and confident children.
Today, Gold Circle is still located in Westway Junior Public School, where we collaborate with the school and community partners to provide exceptional child care services.
Our facility features five dedicated rooms offering programs for: Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, & School-Age Children.

To us, it is important to promote principles of diversity, health & wellness, and a positive sense of community through our curriculum, policies and procedures. Who will provide the care? What are their qualifications? Our staff consists of RECEs and ECAs. An RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator) is a professional in the field of early childhood education who has met the requirements for registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators in Ontario. This includes having completed a recognized program in early childhood education, and meeting the standards for knowledge, skills, and ethics as outlined by the College. RECEs are responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate programs for children, and for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the children in their care. They may work in a variety of settings, including child care centers. In Ontario, RECEs are regulated by the College of Early Childhood Educators, which sets standards for the profession and ensures that RECEs are qualified and competent to work with young children. To help provide quality care, Gold Circle provides each RECE with a partner RECE or a ECA. An ECA (Early Childhood Assistant) is a person who works in a child care setting and assists the RECEs (Registered Early Childhood Educators) in the care and education of young children. In Ontario, ECAs must have completed a recognized program in early childhood education or have equivalent education and experience. ECAs are responsible for helping to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs for children, and for assisting with the care and supervision of the children. They may work in a variety of settings, including child care centers. ECAs play an important role in supporting the development and learning of young children, and in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the children in their care.

Three snacks are provided (in the morning, afternoon and evening) and all of our meals promote good health and nutrition. Vegetables and Fruits are served daily, with every meal. All baked goods are homemade, to ensure that all ingredients are natural and fresh. Milk and meat are staples within most of our lunch meals, however, we do have alternatives to meet the needs of our families who may have certain dietary restrictions. We are a nut free environment and we take all dietary allergies into account when cooking and preparing the children's meals. How do I enroll my child?Admissions Process To help parents in making the right decision about their child's day care, Gold Circle Daycare Centre conducts tours at the centre. Tours can be booked with the centre's supervisor for any time during the centre's business hours to fit parents' schedule and the supervisor's availability. Should the Supervisor be unavailable, a designate will conduct the tour, which can last up to 30 minutes. During the Tour, topics such as feeding, dressing, and sleep routines are discussed, so that the centre is aware of how these routines are handled at home, and how they may be continued, or modified, in the daycare setting. The Supervisor will review the policies of the centre and answer any questions that the parent or guardian may have. The transition to the centre may be more pleasant if arrangements can be made for the child to visit the centre prior to their starting date. Admission is based on a first come, first serve basis at the discretion of the Supervisor. When parents decide to enroll their child or children into the program, they will receive a Parent Handbook with the centre’s policies and the necessary forms to be filled out and returned to the centre prior to the start date. A Parent Contract and Code of Conduct will need to be signed and returned prior to the child’s admission. Once a spot at the centre has been offered, the registration fee and deposit is due ASAP in order to hold the spot until the start date. 1. Parents requiring fee subsidy will need to contact Toronto Children Services. 2. Make an appointment with the Supervisor to arrange a tour. 3. Pay Registration fee and receive Registration form from the Supervisor. Bring in registration forms and pay deposit fee - payable via email money transfer or in person. Upon receiving payment and all documentation, your spot will be secured.
